Timber – the Raw material of the future

Timber is a raw material which grows constantly. It is a sustainable raw material and energy source which can be used and processed locally.

In our mills, we only use timber from sustainably managed forests from the region in which the mills are situated. This is shown by the FSC certification of our suppliers.

Timber is a climate neutral raw material. Each used cubic metre stores CO2 from the atmosphere and helps to stabilize our climate. At first, timber serves as CO2 reservoir. However, after using it as construction timber or furniture timber it can be disposed of in a climate neutral manner and still serves as energy source.

The forests in our region are incomparably multifuntional: They serve as raw material source to the sawmills and outdoor leisure to the visitors, they guarantee water protection and are, at the same time, a habitat for many rare animal and plant species.
